With Pablum and their friends

Grab your Frooty Loops and soda
C’mon, what are you waiting for?
It’s Pablum

Bubblegum and Booze
03:48
|
|||
When she’s beside me I’m beside myself
She’s got a copy of the manifesto on her shelf
Reading by candlelight, or taking a nap at three
Watching documentaries produced by the BBC
But what does she want from me?
I don’t know what she wants and either way I know that I can’t provide it
When she talks to me, I can’t look away, with her stare now I can’t avoid it
In the moment, when I don’t know what to do
I get real close to her, and I know we’re gonna share bubblegum and booze
When she’s beside me I don’t know what to do
When I’m thinking about her is she thinking about me too?
At fast food restaurants, or playing trivia by the sea
Gotta keep her occupied, so she won’t think of leaving me
What does she want from me?
Boozing up on the weekend
Going out with all our friends
Got another party to attend
But when the party is done
We’re gonna lose touch with everyone
But that’s okay because the fun has just begun

New Leaf
03:37
|
|||
I arrived in the village today
I arrived on a rainy day
I gotta pay back that guy
So I have a place to stay
He arrived in the village today
The ticket stub was leading his way
His old life on his back
In a worn-out plaid knapsack
I’m turning over a new leaf
There’s lots of things to do
Go into town and meet you

I'm Erica
02:34
|
|||
I’m just a girl and I’m really fucking cute
I’m just a girl wearing Doc Marten’s with a suit
I’m just a girl and I like TV shows, magazines,
Going out on shopping sprees, smoking cigarettes and methamphetamines
I’m Erica
I’m Erica
I’m Erica
Erica’s my name
I’m just a girl and I like staying up all night
I’m just a girl catching a transatlantic flight
I’m just a girl who’s immigrating overseas
To obtain more of the aforementioned methamphetamines
In America
America
America
America’s a place

But you don't believe
In human medication
You're from outer space
And you're never going home
You want me to fix your space shelf
But I can't even fix myself
Your new equipment
can't be powered by me

Pablum
02:41
|

Pablum sees you hiding there
Pablum sees you’re feeling scared
Trust me, I’ve been there too
Pablum knows just what to do
Now I hate the way it is
And I hate the way you cry
Just believe me
Look up to the sky
Let Pablum help you out, let Pablum make your day
Pablum is the guy who knows what to say
When you’re feeling down, when you’re feeling shit
Pablum is the guy who’ll pull you out of that pit
Now that you’re feeling okay
Pablum finds the words to say
“Like whatever you wanna like”

Michelle is leaving and she’s taking the kids
Michelle is leaving and I don’t know what I did
Said she’s leaving and won’t come back
Gonna blame it all on the heart attack
But Michelle is leaving me and taking the kids
I don’t know what I did to deserve this
Am I a bad person inside?
Never before the day she said she’s leaving me
Had I ever looked so longingly upon the noose I tied
Michelle, won’t you give me a second chance now?
I always thought you trusted me
If you’re not back by the end of the week
I’m gonna take your ass to court and then I’ll sue for custody

The Girl from Bev Cell
03:55
|
|||
I’m looking at her even though I’m cooking in the kitchen
Well, that’s where I’d be if I was a real man
I’m packing orders in front area with all of the women
Placing a Big Mac meal in a bag
She’s multitasking continuously
so she can serve orders off the beverage production screen
as soon as they’re ready
She’s prioritising the OEPE
I’ve worked here for a year and I still don’t know what that means
I keep forgetting
I fell in love with the girl who makes a living making sundaes
There’s always one too many days until the day that she gets paid
And when the shift is done, she’s counting down the hours until the next one
I fell in love with the girl from bev cell
I just spoke to her and the things she says are just the sweetest
Straight from the heart, “Can you get shake/sundae”
And fill it up three-quarters, I’m trying to make my way through the list
Before I go and head home for the day
And as the day further unfurls,
She has to follow the builds, just two and a half swirls
So says the shifty
Well, she says she needs one of those coffee machines
With the milk frother and a big old bag of beans
She thinks they’re nifty
Frozen cokes, frappes and flat whites
Add a vanilla shot for the cop who comes by at night
McFlurry’s, milkshakes, mochas, more
We never get a chance to shut those doors
So the drunken insomniacs can come and grab a bite
I fell in love with the girl who makes a living making sundaes
She’s worked here for two years, so just give her the fifty cent raise
And when the shift is done, she’s counting down and ready to have some fun
I fell in love with the girl from bev cell
I fell in love with the girl from bev cell
Making drinks and desserts for us to sell
I fell in love with the girl from bev cell

The Beach Song
01:27
|
|||
A day at the beach, wondering who I’ll meet
Swim with the fishies and catch the ones I can reach
Hope all the girls like my new swimsuit
I’ve been working out, I’ve been eating fruit
I’m sucking in my gut, I got a new haircut
I’ll wear a rashie, grab my sunscreen and lather up
A day at the beach, wondering who I’ll meet
Be gone in a few to catch the 612

The Dom Song
02:06
|
|||
Gonna catch the 616 and ride it to the end
With a copy of The Matrix, I’m off to see my dominatrix friend
She likes to wear black leather, but I’m more of a casual guy
We’ll watch a movie, then I will say goodbye
We understand our differences, that’s why we get along
I’m into art, she’s into dom
We understand our differences, that’s why we get along
Maybe she should find a friend who’s into dom
We took a trip to the local shopping mall
She went for lingerie, I went for the hotdog stall
Met back up and browsed the comics at QBD
She went for smut, I went for Scott P

I look about where we are now
And I'm seeing something that almost feels quite familiar actually
It seems almost like a European city, very cultured, very liveable
Or maybe, cause, you know, to bring it back to my book
One of the themes in my book is that I seem to be like an emotional cretin
If I can use that term, I hope that's not an offensive term
Like, in other words, I don't seem to know what I'm feeling half the time
And I don't know how common this is
(I think it's been what drove me to a greater extent)
I don't know if this is part of the condition known in some circles as being a man
(And by the way thank you for saying the photo makes me look pensive because I think tend to think it might make me look gormless or clueless)
Or maybe it's just a condition of being Louis Theroux
(My mouth is kind of hanging open)
But I seem not to get clear emotional signals half the time
(And I just look at the camera, I was three years old and I'm looking at the camera as though)
In situations where you would think it would be pretty clear what you would be feeling
(It might be either about to attack me or confuse me, which I suppose would turn out to be a good life skill in my professional work)
Thank you for having me, Australia

John Linnell
02:40
|
|||
No one’s ever seen the man with the piano beneath his hands
No one will ever understand
The man was nothing but a myth, he isn’t real, he doesn’t exist
Something everybody somehow missed
That John Linnell is a robot
His robot brains generate the perfect melodies
He picked the lock of writers block with 88 keys, oh please
It’s John Linnell
Flans kept the secret cause he’s a friend, though everybody else found out in the end
Everything that’s right is wrong again
He couldn’t fake an alibi, because robots aren’t programmed to lie
Sentenced by the judge to 25 to life
Because John Linnell is a robot
The biggest musical scandal of the 21st century
It combats the flack of the backing track of Milli Vanilli
It’s John Linnell
John Linnell is a robot
Sent on a mission by the government of the USA
John Linnell is a robot
Sent to raise the standards of the music of today
John Linnell was the perfect guy, they ruined him and exposed the lie
Don’t know why anyone would try, but they locked him up and left him to die
John Linnell left us too soon, and he’ll never write another tune
He now spends his afternoons rusting away in his prison tomb
John Linnell
John Linnell
John Linnell
We’ll miss you John Linnell

A Poem by Cole Toone
01:22
|
|||
Fresh from the womb
I need to find a bigger room
To stretch my legs
And learn how to use them
Where are my car keys?
Has anyone seen them?
They're on a blue keyring
Next to the other ones
From birth to death we use our breath
To ask people if they've seen our keys
If we only worked out we'd have more breath
And we could afford to lose our keys more often
We could go to work
To make enough money
To go to the shop and
Buy some new keys
But I can't go to work
Cause this womb doesn't fit me
And I still haven't learnt
How to walk
(I'll go to the store)
(And buy a new one)

Jacqui's on the Juice
05:14
|
|||
Jacqui’s on the juice again
and I don’t know why she feels the urge
Every day when she wakes up, she takes a swig to fade away the shake-up
Gets in her car, and drives to work
Jacqui’s on the juice
Jacqui’s on the juice
Headed out for a night on the town and letting loose
Jacqui’s on the juice
Jacqui’s on the juice
Got a DUI, a hit and run, and a damaged BMW
She’s coming back for more and she won’t stop
She’s filling her petrol tank up to the top
Things couldn’t get worse for her, so she used the money from her tenure
To get in touch with her old friend Jim
Woah now Jacqui
Where do you think you’re going with those car keys?
Wanna take them away from you, we’ll wait it out for an hour or two
And like the best of us, the King has fallen from her throne

Down to the Dew
04:43
|
|||
When I was at my worst, you took me to another place
And showed me what it’s like to be calm again
You changed my one-AMs to cherishable memories
That I would never be able to repay
Cause I’m going down to the dew
I’m going down to the dew
I’m going down to the dew
I’m going down to Stardew
The first thing you taught me was to speak to everyone I see
And live my life day by day
Out of my cubicle to rolling hills and wooden houses
That will keep me warm through my stay
